The Elnath Rebellion |

On the 1st of Tributes, the Senate tabled the motion, "Confirmation of the Inherent Rights of the Nobility", which would have barred commoners from various things considered exclusive to the nobility — such as feud rights, the right to hold Senate seats or the right to maintain an army.
Within a day, many citizens of the xenophobic planet Elnath, supposedly followers of The Church of the Flame, rebelled against the perceived attack on their rights and identity. These protests escalated rapidly, with the planet's senator (Aurélie Dekara) resigning on the 2nd of Tributes, and various noble houses attempting to restore order.
Armed conflict occurred between rebels and Imperial Guards, as well as between rebels and individual house militaries, over several weeks in most cities. It became apparent that the rebels were being supplied with advanced arms, but the culprit or culprits are currently unknown. At least one engagement apparently occurred between Imperial Guards and the military of House Mikhailovsky-Ivanov.
Brutal atrocities were committed during the revolt, both by the rebels and the supposed law-enforcers, culminating in the infamous 11th of Tributes orbital bombardment of spaceports across Elnath, by the Imperial Eridani Navy battleship Dreadnought. The city of Novy Yekaterinburg suffered a partial dome collapse and complete oxygen leak; Harlangrad was almost completely obliterated; the status of other major cities, including the capital Marseilles Nouveau, is unknown. A video was circulated of Emperor Cuthbert Godwinson acknowledging that he had ordered the bombardment, followed by a rebel claiming to have assassinated the Emperor. However, the Emperor contacted all the nobles of the Empire shortly afterwards, declaring the video a fake and denying all responsibility for the atrocity.
Casualties from this event are so far unknown, but are expected to number in the millions.
