Citadel forces begin Operation Hydrahead, aimed at suppressing the tribesmen of the Burning Path and forces of House Hug in the Eiskreuz. After several weeks of fighting the tribes are driven into hiding or further south out of Citadel reach, where they regroup and begin rearming. Clan forces remained idle during the operation, to much criticism from many within the Clans.

After months of rearming House Hug and its allies strike back, launching multiple strikes against Citadel positions. Kaus is hard hit, but the biggest battles occur on Saiph, location of several large bases belonging to House Rosenkov. The Siege of Saiph lasts for several weeks as Burning Path forces seek to wipe out the defenders. Hastily sent reinforcements sent by the emperor eventually manage to break through thanks to superior Vandal technology and training but although the defenders are saved the battle rages on across the planet.

The Clans finally involve themselves in the fighting, issuing an ultimatum to House Hug to withdraw its forces and destroy its fortresses within Clan territory. After receiving no response Clan fleets arrive at Cheleb, the main stronghold of House Hug, and begin an assault. Three days of fighting see Clan forces steadily push forward until all enemy forces are driven off the world. Although sporadic fighting would continue across the southwest for several more weeks the Battle of Cheleb effectively ended the war with House Hug and its tribal allies defeated and broken.

Several facilities belonging to House Masnada and House Katavus are destroyed by one or more groups of saboteurs. The identity of the assailants and their sponsors remains a mystery.
